On a vacation in Tuscany, two families -- one Danish, one Dutch -- meet and become fast friends. Months later, the free-spirited Dutch family extends an invitation to the more conservative Danish one for a holiday weekend getaway at their countryside home. However, it doesn't take long before things gradually get out of hand as the joy of reunion is replaced with misunderstandings. The Dutch hospitality quickly turns unnerving for the Danes, and they find themselves increasingly caught in a web of their own politeness in the face of eccentric... or is it sinister... behavior.

Audience Says

It's well-acted and definitely has something to say, but Speak No Evil isn't really scary -- and it'll be a tough watch for all but the most desensitized viewers.

Juan T I'm refusing to watch the remake out of solidarity for this original and fantastic horror. Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Andy S This film really rested on the idea that you didn't know what was going on.That it was listed as a horror must have had many people suspecting what was the come, which clearly can't be the fault of the film itself. The whole sequence was obvious and what was to come was also obvious which really left you looking at the facts and the probability. This relies on every family having no friends, no family and no record of anything they do - and in this age of social media that's a pretty far-fetched idea. People post other people they met on holiday. If you were to visit a house then people would post the house and the location and they would let family and friends know. The idea that all these people never did that is pretty incredible and this really spoiled the film. They didn't even address or approach it.Saying that, good solid acting and great setups. Not the worst film, but you have to try and make things like this a little more believable. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Jas S Terrible story and terrible acting. The fact that these people just let this happen to them is not plausible and frankly it’s got many aspects that are just a beyond comprehensible. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Audience Member A very dark and morbid thriller. Speak No Evil is a very dark and morbid thriller that mostly does things right but does have some missteps. The movie has very strong performances from all of it's actors. The movie is mainly in English but there are some subtitles because technically this is a Danish film. The reason why most of the film being in English is because the other family in the film is a Dutch family. Be aware this movie is very dark in tone and has multiple scenes that can be very hard to watch from the viewer. I was not a huge fan of the ending. Still this is a very well made thriller. Speak No Evil gets a very positive 4 stars out of 5. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Who K Saw this film instead of remake and glad I did because you can't remake this its top notch acting , disturbing and brilliantly shot. One of the most shocking endings in Cinema Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/10/24 Full Review Brent F This movie was a complete mind trip, driving me to sick to my stomach.I give them a lot of credit for being so bold with their story.
